We had a great time at Deptford Creek! We learnt about an artificial nest that was built for birds to lay their eggs. When the tide comes in and the river gets deeper it starts to float. Some of the children found a small leech in their net, it wasn’t big enough to latch on so they could safely hold it in their hands. We also inspected artifacts from Deptford Creek, which were animal bones probably from a nearby slaughter house. In addition, the learners in Year 4 sketched the river’s key features. They had to include its meander, channel, direction of flow and the river bed.
